This month two Physics and Astronomy faculty members have written columns for the Charlotte Observer. Rachel Smith, Assistant Professor and Director of the Astronomy & Astrophysics Research Lab at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences updates us on the number of planets found around other stars and the hunt for Earth-like planets. Dan Caton, a Professor of Physics and Astronomy, in his monthly column “Up in the Air,” tells us what to expect from the Moon during the month of August.
