Aurora Captured on Brown Mountain Light Camera

There was an intense aurora last night that reached toward southern latitudes.  It was caused by a large solar flare and the aurora was predicted to be good.  One of the cameras Lee Hawkins and Dan Caton run to look for the Brown Mountain lights caught it during the first half hour of the night. Caton said he doesn't know if it could have been seen visually since the camera is sensitive in the infrared and auroras are bright in that part of the spectrum.  See the short time lapse video (each frame a 1-minute exposure).
