Dr. Jim Sherman, who serves as senior research scientist at AppalAIR (Appalachian Atmospheric Interdisciplinary Research), is collaborating with fellow researchers to study the effects of atmospheric aerosols on climate change in the Southeast. As dust traveling 5000 miles from the Saharan Desert swept over the high country this past week, there has been lots of opportunity to study the effects of the dust, with particular emphasis on air quality and respiratory health.
