Student Spotlight: Matthew Calvelo

Accelerated Master's student Matt Calvelo studied abroad in Chile in 2017. While in Chile, Matt was able to complete all credit hours needed for a minor in Spanish. When asked to hear more about his trip, he said:  "I studied abroad in Valparaíso, Chile for 10 weeks over the summer of 2017 in order to complete my Spanish minor. There, I was a part of a new family. One that took me in and showed me what it was like to be a part of a Chilean family. While I was there, I was able to take a trip to hike in the Andes Mountains with some friends I made there. I was also able to tag along with my host family to Gualeguaychú, Argentina, where their family member was celebrating her Quinceañera. It was an incredible experience that gave me unforgettable memories, a new family, and better language skills. If you are thinking about studying abroad, now is the best time. DO IT!"

Matt is one of many students who chose to study abroad while in college. The subject matter chosen to study does not have to be major specific and can be minor related or gen-ed related. If you are curious about studying abroad during your time here at Appalachian visit this link
